Don’t bend to pressure only principle - Ascertain why the deadline has been set, and if it is credible. If it is credible then you either have to work to it or try and change it.
If not credible find out why the deadline has been set and state that it not credible, affirming that you may well sign up in 3 weeks’ time, however you do not understand why they have placed a constraint upon it.
