Charitable assocations/adoptions with businesses can make a huge difference to the charity sector. It allows to build on the charities income steams as well as incorporate a strong corporate social responsibility ethic into a business.
Charity adoptions can differ from yearly structured adoptions which will include a certain target set by the corporate of how much money they wish to raise during that year. The year is then organised by a charity committee within the company will arranged the yearly activities. These work really well give a strong sense of structure and 9/10 that corporate will reach their target. Other corporates like a more relaxed relationship but still organise certain events across the year.
The interesting fact is that in some cases charities are just informed of the adoption and then don't actually become a key role with the decisions or charity activities. Other corporate adoptions really integrate a fundraiser from the charity who attends all the meetings and plays apart in the decision making.
Its difficult as what is the right approach? Well the answer is that depends on the charity and what works best for the corporate. At the end of the day the corporate will want to raise as much money as possible for the charity and the charity will want the same, so whatever is needed to achieve that then it doesn't matter what approach is best.
At Joshua's Wish we like our corporate adoptions to be fun and informative. Over the last 15 years we have had some wonderful corporate adoptions which we have helped raise as money as possible. We like to help in every way we can with that business and have created some wonderful social/training schemes which at the same time raises money for us. We have found that our training and social activities allow businesses to grow and at the same time help raise money for children with terminal cancer.
The key point to mention is that during a very active and motivated charity adoption, staff members motivation develops.
Choosing the right charity for your business is essential. Its finding a charity which will touch everyones hearts and its a charity which everyone can relate too. Its that key method which will enable wonderful things to be achieved.
