There was such a hullabaloo a few weeks ago about the big supermarket chains exploiting work experience to create a pool of "slave labour". Whether the criticisms were right or wrong, there is absolutely no doubt that work experience is a great opportunity for the young unemployed to acquire some new skills, gain self confidence and add to their employability.

The National Minimum Wage will increase to £6.19 in Oct 2012. Or c£220pw for a 37 hr working week.
Could YOU live on that?
If this is what Joe Public is expected to live on for working 37 hrs pw, then perhaps that is where benefits should be capped or benchmarked... Just a thought and I'm sure it won't be a popular one.
